Overview
In this inquiry lesson, students will be investigating the question, How do a game’s rules affect its fairness? Partners will play the game and record responses. Then they will play and record responses to a modified version of the game that includes a fourth element, Water, in which Water and Rock can
each beat two of the other elements. By recording responses in these two probability games, students will be able to determine if a relationship exists between trial outcomes and the fairness of the game. The lesson will review the concepts of experimental probability and theoretical probability through
experimentation and simulations.
