Overview

In this inquiry lesson, students will be investigating the question, What is the relationship of sum of the addends and their signs? Students will use hands-on manipulatives, including two-colored counters, to add integers with different signs and to begin to discover rules for adding integers. These rules will include adding positive integers, adding negative integers, and adding positive and negative integers.
