Overview

In this inquiry lesson, students will be investigating the question, How does the density of a medium affect wave speed? Students will be given the question, and they will choose their own materials, formulate their own procedures, collect their own data, and reach their own conclusions. They will use what they learn in their experiments to draw conclusions about how scientists use earthquake waves to explain the layers of the earth.
